Input: (i) gas grid topology (e.g., in Excel), (ii) pipelines, demand, import, compressors, (iii) nominal gas grid flow and shocks (e.g., gas power plants), (iv) number of nodes per pipeline.

Method & highlights: Nonlinear PDE with Finite difference approximation and manual Newton-solver, includes „Linepack“ effect to model pressure loss, automatic definition of gas grid constraints, interactive HTML visualization

Computational efficiency: 30 minutes for simulation of 6 hours

Result: Pressure/mass flow along the pipes and identification of critical pressure drops
